Foreign citizens that want to travel in the EU but already have a Schengen Visa do not need to get an ETIAS authorization.

However, you can apply for ETIAS when your Schengen Visa expires. You will be granted the ETIAS if you are considered eligible.

What questions will you be asked on the application form?

Questions about the period of your stay will be asked for the ETIAS. This authorization might be valid for approximately 3 years or it will be valid as long as all your other documents will also be valid. The system will evaluate which period you will get.

Why is the ETIAS Visa better than the other Visas?

Schengen countries have forever been concerned with the security issues the travelers present. In order to have better management of the borders, they have agreed on creating the ETIAS Visa because it reduces the procedures, wait time and security concerns.

When should you apply for ETIAS?

It is recommended to apply for it at least 3 days before you have to depart. Make sure to bring the ETIAS authorization email printout at the border if you’re driving or at the airport if you’re planning on flying.

How long can you stay in Europe with the ETIAS visa waiver?

The ETIAS visa waiver will be eligible for staying only 90 days in Europe, for business or leisure reasons. Those citizens that need to stay in Europe for more than 90 days will need to apply for a different kind of visa.
